A Diverse Mix - Steam and class 68s.

Today's post comprises 18 pictures from 6 contributors and compares two eras - BR  (steam) with NR (diesels).


WINWICK & ELSEWHERE


First up are three images from Ieuan Wood. Number one shows two of the latest DRS class 68s 68002 Intrepid and 68003 Astute on the Tesco container working, passing through Winwick on 18th February 2015.








Second is a shot of GBRf class 66, 66721 Harry Beck on a LBT - Ironbridge working at Winwick on 18th February 2015. Harry Beck designed the London Tube map in 1933 and  a portion is shown on one side of the white liveried loco. On the other side is the current version of the map from 2013.




Third up from Ieuan is DRS class 57, 57309 running light engine through Winwick on 17th February 2015.









Next is a shot from Alan Rigby featuring two more class 68s, 68009 Titan and 68004 Rapid. The double heading light engine pairing was shot at Winwick on 18th February 2015.









Jeff Nicholls is up next with five pics. First up is the Tesco intermodal again with two DRS class 66s at the head, 66432 and 66301. The location was Winwick and the date, 23rd February 2015.








Next is Arriva liveried class 67, 67001 on a Chester - Manchester working, leaving Bank Quay on 20th February 2015.













Number three from Jeff features EWS (DRS) class 67, 67020 with a Manchester Piccadilly - Holyhead service stopping at Newton-le-Willows, on 23rd February 2015. 







The following two pics were taken at the recent ELR Gala on 21st February 2015. Ex BR class '5', 4-6-0, No.73129 is pictured leaving Ramsbottom for Rawtenstall on 21st February 2015.








Ex BR 'Standard' class '4' 2-6-4, No.80080 is depicted moving stock into Ramsbottom sidings on 21st February 2015.











The following two shots are from John Smith. This one shows class 66, 66721 Harry Beck at St Helens Junction with a Ironbridge - Tuebrook working. The pic is dated 21st February 2015.








Next is a Winwick shot of passing class 175s, 175115 and 175116, with Manchester - Holyhead and Holyhead - Manchester workings. The pic is dated 16th February 2015.









David Quayle has sent in the next four shots, all from the recent ELR Gala. First up is Ex BR class '5', 4-6-0, No.73129 on a Parcels Charter photo shoot at Burrs Country Park, on 22nd February 2015.








David's second shot depicts Stanier 'Black Five' 4-6-0, No.45407 The Lancashire Fusilier at Burrs Country Park, on 22nd February 2015.








A double heading pair is up next taken at Burrs Country Park on 22nd February 2015. The locos are No.73129 again and Gresley 'K4' class 2-6-0, No. 61994 The Great Marquess








Number four from David is the Parcels Charter with 73129 again. The location is Burrs Country Park on the same date, 22nd February 2015.








Two more now from Jeff Nicholls. The strangely named 'Special', 'The Tin Bath' is pictured next attacking the Miles Platting bank on 15th February 2015. Headed by Stanier 'Black Five's Nos 44871 and 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier, the train was running Preston - Sheffield and is shown leaving Manchester Victoria.






Two DRS class 20s are pictured next, at Bank Quay on 13th February 2015. Pictured are 20309 and 20308 heading spent nuclear fuel flasks.









Last but not least is this pic from David Wood. GBRf class 66, 66721 Harry Beck, is pictured again, at St Helens Junction on 17th February 2015, on a biomass working (?).
