ELR and SVR

Today's post, 8 November 2017, follows on fairly quickly from the previous post because of the shear volume of pics sent in - here are 15 pics from 2 contributors.

WINWICK AND BEYOND

First up are eight pics from David Quayle.  This one was taken at Burrs Country Park on the ELR on 14 October 2017. Pictured is John Cameron's famous 'A4', No. 60009 Union of South Africa, on a passenger service.

The same loco is pictured next, at Bury, on the same date.

Pics numbered three and four below show Hunslet No.2890 built at Leeds in 1943 as part of the austerity 0-6-0ST programme (including LNER class J94) built by several manufacturers during World War II. The loco was delivered to the War Department for military use as No.75041.  It was converted to a 0-6-0 tender engine at the Mid Hants Railway but is now owned by the Ribble Steam Railway. It returned to steam following its last overhaul in September this year.

On the left No.2890 is pictured double heading with No.52322 with a passenger service at Burrs; and on the right No.2890 is  shown at Ramsbottom, heading another passenger service. Both pics are dated 14 October 2017. No.52322 is a class 27 0-6-0 tender, freight locomotive designed by John Aspinall for the L&YR in 1896.

Next from David is ex SR Bulleid 'West Country' class 4-6-2, No. 34092 City of Wells, taken at speed at Burrs Country Park on the same date, 14 October 2017.

Ex LMS Hughes/Fowler 'Crab' locomotive, No.13065, is up next, a 2-6-0 'Mogul' is a mixed traffic loco built at Crewe works in 1927. Pictured at Bury on 14 October 2017.

No.52322 is featured again in David's seventh shot, taken at Bury, on 14 October 2017.

David's final shot is of the hot axle box of No.34092 City of Wells (described above), receiving TLC at Ramsbottom on the same date.

The following seven shots are from Geoff Monks. The first four were taken on the SVR on 16th September 2017.

First up is class 50 diesel 50035, taken at Bewdley heading a Kidderminster-Bridgnorth train.

Next is Austerity 2-10-0 locomotive, No.600 Gordon, built in 1943 and now displayed in The Engine House building at Highley.

Featured in the same building is ex LMS Stanier class '8F' 2-8-0, No.48773.

Taken at Bridgnorth shed on the same date, was No.564 (64562), visiting for the following weekend's Steam Gala. Also in the picture are ex GWR pair -  Collett '5700' class 0-6-0PT, No.7714, and Collett 'Manor' class 4-6-0, No. 7802 Bradley Manor. No.564 is an ex GER Y14 class (LNER J15) 0-6-0 tender locomotive, built in 1912, designed by T.W. Worsdell.

The following shot, from Geoff, was taken at Acton Bridge on 27 October 2017. Depicted are double heading DB class 90s, 90028 and 90020 on a Mossend - Daventry intermodal working.

Double heading Freightliner class 86s are up next, also taken at Acton Bridge on 27th October 2017; 86604 and 86612 were on a Garston - Crewe working.

The final shot in this post is also from Geoff and features Freightliner class 66, 66572, on a Runcorn Folly Lane - Northenden binliner working, on the same date and at the same location.
