More Heritage Railway Pics

Britain's Heritage Railways/Museums etc feature strongly in today's post, 27th May 2014. 


WINWICK & ELSEWHERE


First up are three pics from Colin Platt all taken on the NYM Railway in April. The first shows the 1937 built Gresley 'A4' 4-6-2, No.4464 Bittern, of Jeremy Hosking. The loco is pictured leaving Grosmont on 26th April 2014, passing privately owned class 37, 37264.









Pic two is another from Colin, taken at Grosmont, this one featuring Stanier 'Black Five' 4-6-0, No.45407 The Lancashire Fusilier. The service is shown passing the engine shed on the same date, 26th April 2014.








Colin's third pic shows the Thompson 'B1' class 4-6-0, No.61034 (61264) Chiru. The service has left Goathland on 26th April 2014.








The following two pics are from Ieuan Wood. 'The Seaside Flyer' excursion is pictured at Shotton with Collett 'Castle' class 4-6-0, No.5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe in charge. The pic is dated 24th April 2014.








Ieuan's second shot was taken at Red Bank on 19th May 2014. Depicted are Freightliner class 86s, 86638 and 86637 on an intermodal working.









Jeff Nicholls has sent in two pics both taken at Culcheth. EWS (DBS) class 66, 66076 is pictured on a Ditton - Dollands Moor working, diverted via Chat Moss because of engineering work at Weaver Junction.The pic is dated 25th May 2104.






Pic number seven overall, and Jeff's second shows a consist of four diesel locomotives travelling from the Nene Valley Railway to the ELR on 22nd May 2014. The lead loco is class 56, 56312 hauling class 37, 37324, Clydebridge class 40, 40135 (D335) and class 47, 47402 (D1501).  The DCR class 56 is named Jeremiah Dixon. Son of County Durham. Surveyor of the Mason-Dixon Line USA.




Alan Rigby has sent in a couple of shots showing close ups of two members of the above consist. The first depicts  class 37, 37324 Clydebridge, at Earlestown on the same date, 22nd May 2014.







Alan's second pic shows D1501, 47402 in the consist- same location, same date.









A third shot from Alan, number ten overall, was taken at Winwick on 22nd May 2014. A NRTT (Network Rail Test Train)  is featured with class 97, 97301 at the head.








The following three pics are from John Smith. GBRf class 66, 66743, is pictured at Chelford in pic number eleven, heading an intermodal, Felixstowe - Trafford Park. The pic is dated 21st May 2014.







EWS (DBS) class 66, 66007 is shown next, heading empty bogie well wagons on a Trafford Park- Crewe working. John's shot was also taken at Chelford on 21st May 2014.









John's third shot, number thirteen overall, was also taken at Chelford on the same date. Pictured is Freightliner' PowerHaul' class 70, 70018, on a Trafford Park - Southampton intermodal working. 








Five shots from David Quayle now follow, taken at various locations within the Heritage Railway movement. Pic number fourteen was taken on the Bressingham on 14th May 2014.  Featured is Norwegian State Railways' class 21c No.377 King Haakon, built in Sweden in 1919. The loco was being painted black for an appearance in a film, said to be Tarzan.






Pic fifteen was taken on the North Norfolk Railway at Weybourne on 15th May 2014. Pictured is the only preserved 4-6-0 with inside cylinders, Holden GER class 'B12', No.1572, (LNER 8572, BR 61572).












David's next three shots were all taken on the Nene Valley Railway on 7th May 2014. Pic sixteen features a S160, 2-8-0 freight locomotive used by the US Army and shipped to Britain in huge numbers during WWII. No.6046 was built in 1945 by the US Baldwin Locomotive Company and shipped directly to France - see the Internet for more info. The shot of a passenger service was taken at Wansford.






Pic seventeen also from the NVR was taken at Wansford on 7th May 2014. BR 'Standard' class '5MT' 4-6-0, No.73050 City of Peterborough, is pictured with class 31, 31108 (of A1A Locomotives Ltd) behind.







Finally, shot number eighteen shows a Swedish Railcar, No1212 Helga, at Wansford on the NVR on the same date, 7th May 2014.

Three more class 68s

This post, 19th May 2014, comprises sixteen pics which include three of the latest DRS class 68s.


WINWICK & ELSEWHERE


Our first four pics are from Jeff Nicholls. The first two show locomotives from his recent visit to the Isle of Man. The first features 0-6-0 No.4 Caledonia, at Santon on 11th May 2014.








Also taken at Santon on the same date was pic number two. This is of 2-4-0 No.4 Loch 









Jeff's third shot was taken on 7th May 2014 from under the M62 motorway near Winwick. DBS class 60, 60011 is pictured with FFPS - LBT empties.







Pic number four from Jeff was taken at Stafford on 16th May 2014 and features double heading class 86s. Freightliner locos 86622 and 86609 are shown on a Ditton - Felixstowe working.









David Wood has sent in the next shot but it was taken by Alan Thompson. BR 'Standard' class '7', No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell, is depicted at Chester on 30th November 2013.








The next shot is from Geoff Monks. Featured is the spent nuclear fuels flask working, Sellafield - Crewe, on 17th May 2014. The locos are double heading DRS class 37s, 37688 Kingmoor TMD and 37682. The location was Winwick.








Bevan Price has sent in the next two pics. His first, number seven overall, was taken on 16th May 2014 at Rainhill. Shown are three of the latest DRS class 68s, 68005/004/003 being towed by DRS class 37, 37609 from Seaforth Docks.









Bevan's second shot shows the Northern Belle railtour passing over Carr Mill viaduct on 5th April 2014. At the head is class 47, 47790 Galloway Princess.









The following three shots are all from Ieuan Wood. Pic number nine overall features double heading locos, class 47, 47580 County of Essex with  class 37, 37706 behind. The location was Winwick on  10th May 2014 and the working was a GW stock move.










Ieuan's next shot features was taken at Bank Quay on 17th May 2014. DRS Class 47, 47805 John Scott 12.5.45 – 22.5.12 is at the head, with DRS class 47, 47853 Rail Express behind. The railtour was Carlisle - Swindon.








The third of Ieuan's pics shows class 47, 47805 John Scott 12.5.45 – 22.5.12, at Newton-le-Willows on 10th May 2014. The working was a Scarborough - Hereford railtour.








The next two shots are from John Smith. Pic twelve overall shows Freightliner class 90, 90045  at Chelford on 13th May 2014. The working was Trafford Park - Crewe.









John's next shot depicts GBRf class 66, 66708 Jayne, at Collins Green on 21st April 2014. The working was biomass empties.








The signal box shown in this pic is where David's dad worked. It was taken at Llanfair P.G. on 14th May 2104 and features DRS class 37, 37611 on a NRTT.

Colas Rail class 70's.

Today's post, 5th May 2014, comprises nineteen pics from seven contributors. Steam, diesel and electric locomotion are all included.


WINWICK & ELSEWHERE



David Quayle is first up with four pics, two from the Llangollen Railway (LR), one from the Severn Valley Railway (SVR) and another from Winwick. Ex GWR pannier tank 0-6-0 No.1638 is shown in his first pic with a parcels charter east of Glyndyfrdwy on the LR. The pic is dated 8th April 2014.






David's second is a Winwick shot of the recent 'Great Britain VII' charter which tours Britain over a number of days. At the head on this leg is ex LMS 'Black Five' 4-6-0 No.44932. The date - 28th April 2014.   







Pic three from David was taken at Bewdley on the SVR and features the same pannier tank 0-6-0 as above, No.1638, this time on a passenger service on 21st March 2014.








The fourth shot from David was taken at Berwyn on the LR on 7th April 2014. Pictured is ex GWR 2-8-0 No.3802 on a passenger service. The shot was taken from the hotel opposite, where David was staying.







Jeff Nicholls has sent in the following three pics. Pic five overall features a 'Pendolino' 390 134 at an unusual location, over Chat Moss, because of a diversion. The pic is dated 20th April 2014.








Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70006 is up next, taken at Winwick by Jeff on 3rd May 2014.The 70 was heading an engineers working.








Jeff's third pic, number seven overall, was taken at Red Bank and shows another engineers train. This one is headed by Freightliner class 66, 66512, on 3rd May 2014.






A John Smith foursome now follows. Pic eight overall shows EWS (DBS) class 60, 60035 on a Liverpool-Tinsley empty steel working on 4th April 2014. The location was Collins Green.







Another from John, number nine, features new Colas Rail class 70s, 70806 and 70807 at St Helens Junction on 1st May 2014.








An empty biomass working is next from John, taken at Collins Green on 21st April 2014. The working was Ironbridge - Liverpool and the loco  -  GBRF class 66, 66708 Jayne.








John's second shot of the Colas pair of class 70's is next. The location was St Helens Junction again and the shot was taken from the reverse direction.









Ieuan Wood has sent in pics twelve, thirteen and fourteen. Number twelve depicts the Freightliner class 86's, 86607 and 86622, on a Crewe - Coatbridge working on 27th April 2014. The location was Winwick. 







Class 66, 66623 in Bardon Aggregates livery, is pictured next from Ieuan, with a track laying working. The location was Winwick and the date, 26th April 2014.








EWS (DBS) class 60, 60065 Spirit of Jaguar is pictured in Ieuan's third shot. The location was Rainhill, the date was 2nd May 2014 and the working - a Seaforth - Tinsley empty steel.








Three from David Wood are up next. The first, pic fifteen, shows the familiar logs working. The location was Daresbury, the loco was Colas Rail class 56, 56087 and the date - 24th April 2014.






GBRf class 66, 66708 Jayne was pictured at Whiston, by David, on 25th April 2014. The working was empty biomass. 








David's third shot of GBRf class 66, 66730 Whitemoor was taken at Rainhill on 22nd April 2014. Biomass was again, the working.









Alan Rigby has sent in our final two shots, numbers eighteen and nineteen. The first, of DRS class 37, 37682 was taken at Acton Bridge on 1st May 2014. The working was Daventry - Mossend. 







Pic nineteen from Alan was taken at Winwick on 1st May 2014. Colas Rail class 56, 56094 is pictured on a Sinfin - Grangemouth empty tanks working.
