Mixture of Steam Diesel and Electric Traction.

Today, 16th May 2016, I am including 22 pics sent in by 6 contributors.


WINWICK & BEYOND


Our first five pics are from Jeff Nicholls. Number one shows an example of 'super power' with two DRS class 68s at the head of a single flat, bogie- well wagon. They are 68019 Brutus and 68018 Vigilant. The pic is dated 3rd May 2016 and the location was Red Bank. The working was DRS Motherwell - Derby Litchurch Lane.




Jeff's second pic shows two DRS class 37s, 37610 T.S. (Ted) Cassady 14.5.61 - 6-4-08 and 37059 working Eastleigh-Carlisle on the first leg of  'The Spring West Highlander' railtour. The location was Red Bank and the date, 22nd April 2016.






The third pic from Jeff features EWS (DRS) class 66, 66130 on a Wigan - Wakefield route learner. The date was 27th April 2016 and the location was Winwick.







Jeff's fourth shot is of Arriva class 67, 67002 on the early morning Chester - Manchester Piccadilly service through Winwick Quay. The pic is dated 27th April 2016.








NR class 31, 31233 was working through Winwick on 27th April 2016 - the subject of Jeff's fifth shot. The working was Carlisle - Derby.








The following four shots are from Aidan Fort. First up is the 'Northern Belle' luxury charter headed by DRS class 57, (in NB livery), 57305 Northern Princess passing through Red Bank on 14th May 2016. The destination was Grange-over-Sands.







Next from Aidan is WCRC class 57, 57601 heading 'The Statesman' stock through Red Bank on 14th May 2016. The tour was from Hereford to Appleby.







Shot number three from Aidan features recently repainted GBRf class 66, 66737 Lesia at Red Bank, with a northbound charter for Leeds. The pic is also dated 14th May 2014.







Spent nuclear fuel flasks headed by DRS class 37s, 37606 and 37716, are the subject of pic number four from Aidan; also taken at Red Bank on 14th may 2016.








Next up are four shots from Alan Rigby. His first shows GBRf class 66, 66765 at Tunstead Crossing on 21st April 2016. The working was North Walsham - Harwich Refinery tanks.








Pic number two from Alan shows a small 0-6-0ST on the North Norfolk Railway (NNR). Named Ring Haw the loco is discharging plenty of black exhaust on 22nd April 2016.








Next from Alan is a class 20, 20227, in London Underground livery, crossing onto the NNR at Sheringham, on the same date, 22nd April 2016.








Alan's fourth shot features class 37, 37422 (in DRS blue livery, unbranded) at Norwich Station on 24th April 2016.








Colin Platt is up next with two pics taken at Chester Station on 20th April 2016. First up is Colas Rail class 60, 60096 on a freight working.








Next from Colin is an Oliver Bulleid 'West Country' class 4-6-2, No. 34046 Braunton  masquerading as 'Battle of Britain' class 4-6-2 No.34052 Lord Dowding , complete with support coach.







Three now from Geoff Monks. First is Freightliner class 90, 90016 on the new, down slow alignment at Norton Bridge, heading a Felixstowe - Crewe intermodal on 19th April 2016.








Second shot from Geoff is Virgin class 91, 91109 Sir Bobby Robson, on a Kings Cross - Edinburgh service approaching Colton Junction on 20th April 2016.









Last but not least from Geoff is EWS (DBS) class 66, 66070 at Heck Ings, on an Immingham - Drax P.S. loaded biomass working on 20th April 2016.  The train has just passed beneath th ECML while on the right is the mothballed Eggborough Power Station.







John Smith has sent in the final four shots for this post, all taken at Colton. First up is a Grand Central HST No.43468 on a Kings Cross - Sunderland service on 4th May 2016.







Next, from John, is a Virgin HST No.43239 with 43215 on the rear of a Kings Cross - Edinburgh service on the same date, 4th May 2016.







Featured in the third shot from John is Virgin class 91, 91105 (blunt end first) with failed DVT 82220 behind, and 91125 on the tail of an Edinburgh - Kings Cross service on 4th May 2016.








John's fourth shot shows Virgin class 91, 91104  with DVT 82230 on the rear of a Kings Cross - Newcastle service on 4th May 2016.
