Seven from Six

As the title suggests today's post, 8th January 2012, comprises seven shots from six different photographers.

The first two pics are from Geoff Monks. I think pic number one has our first rainbow (?) in addition to three, class 325 Royal Mail emu units passing northbound through Winwick, on 17th December 2011. The Christmas working was Willesden - Shieldmuir.

Geoff's second shot is of photographer's favourite, ex LMS Stanier 'Pacific', No.6201 Princess Elizabeth. The 4-6-2 is photographed at Winwick on 12th November 2011 heading the 'Coronation Scot' railtour. The working was Tyseley - Glasgow one way (steam Crewe - Glasgow) with class 47, 47773/D1755 on the rear.

Alan Rigby has sent in pic number three. Class 31, 31106, heading a Network Rail Test Train is shown passing 'Lake Winwick', northbound, on 2nd January 2012. The working was Derby - Carlisle.

A second class 31 is pictured next, (pic four) on the recent Pathfinder Tours' 'Festive Jingle Jangle' railtour. DCR / Network Rail class 31, 31601, (running as a substitute for the booked Arpley based diesel shunter, according to Railway Herald) is shown passing Arpley Yard on 17th December 2012 with the Arpley - Latchford leg of the tour. DCR is an acronym for Devon & Cornwall Railways Ltd, a subsidiary of British American Railway Services Ltd.

Pic number five is from Ken Young. Two colourful class 66s are shown double heading on a Peterborough - Longport working. The location is Bank Quay and the date, 6th January 2012. GBRf 66720, in exotic livery, is pictured dragging Colas Rail liveried 66743. The livery of 66720 resulted from a children's competition won by a six year old girl. This class 66 duo was obviously popular as no fewer than five contributors have sent in pics; there are more to follow.

Bob McClellan's pic of BR 'Standard' class '8' 4-6-2, No.71000 Duke of Gloucester, is next, pic number six. 'The Duke' was pictured at Red Bank heading a railtour on 3rd September 2005.

The eighth and final shot is from John Smith; featured is another DCR locomotive. Class 56, 56311, is shown with empty bogie wagons at Golborne on 22nd December 2011. The working was Stoke - Motherwell.
