Diesels, Diesel units and Electrics.

This post, 1st December 2016, features eighteen pics from four contributors.

WINWICK & BEYOND

First up are eight shots from Jeff Nicholls. Jeff has again, used high iso speeds when necessary, to achieve his results. I'm sure you can guess which they are. This pic shows an Aviva class 153 unit , 153 323, leaving Crewe for Swansea on 16th November 2016.

Jeff's second shot was also taken at Crewe on the same date. Here another class 153 unit, East Midlands Trains 153 376, X24 - EXPEDITIOUS, is leaving for Derby.

On the same date but at Stafford, Jeff photographed Northampton class 350, 350 104, on a Euston - Crewe service via Stoke -on-Trent.

Jeff's next shot features DRS class 37, 37424 masquerading as 37558 Avro Vulcan XH558 at Crewe on 16th November 2016. Either end of the loco are DRS class 57s, 57310 Pride of Cumbria, and 57312 Solway Princess.

The same three locos are shown in the next shot but from the reverse angle.

Jeff's sixth shot was taken at Arpley Yard on the same date, 16th November 2016. Pictured is EWS (DRS) class 66, 66082.

Two GBRf (for NR) class 73s are up next topping and tailing a NR train at Birchwood, on 24th November 2016. Jeff adds that not many locos are seen on this line, especially class 73s.  The locos were 73962(T)  Dick Mabbutt and 73965(T).

Jeff's final shot was taken at Winwick on 25th November 2016. Freightliner  class 66, 66597 Viridor, is shown with the early morning Daventry - Coatbridge intermodal. Using the fence as a frame has produce a more interesting photograph.

Geoff Monks has sent in the following four pics. First up are double heading DRS (Nuclear) class 37s, 37604 and 37601, with a Sellafield - Crewe spent nuclear fuels working. The pic is dated 19th November 2016; the location was Acton Bridge.

Pic two from Geoff  shows Freightliner class 66, 66416 double heading with Freightliner class 86, 86609 (Dead in Tow), on a Garston - Crewe working of empty container flats (a regular formation on Saturdays). Location and date were the same.

In sunshine but under a dramatic, dark sky, Pendolino 390 143 is pictured next, same location and date, on a Liverpool Lime Street - Euston service.

Also taken at Acton Bridge on 19th November 2016, was Geoff's fourth pic of GBRf class 92, 92014, in Caledonian Sleeper livery, hauling a Garston - Crewe car transporter working.

The following five shots are from Alan Rigby. First up is Freightliner class 66, 66531 at Sankey Bridges, working coal empties from Fidlers Ferry to Ferrybridge, on Tuesday 15th November 2016.

Next is Freightliner class 66, 66561, with a loaded coal working from Ferrybridge to FFPS on the same date, and at the same location.

Taken at St Helens Central on 15th November 2016, is EWS (DBS) class 66, 66068 working Arpley yard - Ravenhead.

Pics four and five from Alan were taken at Buckshaw Parkway on 13th November 2016. Depicted is DRS class 68, 68025 working the Northern Belle round trip, Manchester Victoria - Carlisle. with 68023 on the rear.

The final shot in this post is from David Wood. David's shot of the Northern Belle 'Special'  was taken at Eccleston Park on 19th November 2016. The DRS class 57s are 57305 Northern Princess and 57312 Solway Princess and the working was Crewe - Edinburgh.
