Record Post of Twenty Pics

As it states clearly in the title above, this post - 6th June 2013 - is a huge one, comprising a record twenty pics; the latter resulting from many submissions over the past month. Some May dated pics have not been used because of duplication or sheer volume of pics contributed, although there are enough published to produce highly competitive May competitions. The judging for the latter can begin now.


First up is a pic from Ieuan Wood. Taken at Red Bank on 2nd June 2013, the pic shows three locos on a single working. They were class 33, 33029 Glen Loy, class 57, 57215 and, on the tail, 57313.

David Wood's pic, number two, features the tail loco on the above working - class 57, 57313. The date and location were the same.

Bob McClellan has sent in the following two pics. His first, pic number three, was taken at Monks Siding on 30th May 2013 and features DBS class 60, 60079, with a coal working for FFPS.

Taken at the same location and on the same date, pic number four from Bob shows Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70002, with empty coal hoppers FFPS - Ellesmere Port.

Two from Jeff Nicholls next. The first, pic number five, shows class 47, 47580 County of Essex on a Southport - Holyhead excursion through Winwick on 29th May 2013. Class 47, 47760 was on the tail.

Pic number six  also from Jeff features Devon & Cornwall Railways' class 56, 56303 at Culcheth, on a Loughborough - ELR light engine move. The date was 15th May 2013.

The first two in this section are from Jeff Nicholls. Pic number seven overall features Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70017 at Acton Bridge  with a Garston - Southampton working just about to pass a 'Pendo'. The date was 29th May 2013.

Double heading DRS class 20s are shown in pic number eight. The working was a Crewe - Sellafield nuclear waste flask headed by 20304 and 204302, the location was Acton Bridge  and the date was 29th May 2013.

Pic nine is from Bob McClellan, one of three in this section. Pictured is ex GWR 0-6-0PT, No.6435 leaving Boscarne Junction on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway on 19th May 2013.

Bob's second shot, number ten, shows DBS class 60, 60063 at Gatcombe (Severn Estuary) with an empty tanks move, Robeston - Westerleigh. The date was 10th May 2013.

The third shot from Bob, number eleven overall, was taken on the Tallylyn Railway at Rhydronen on 5th May 2013. Pictured is the 1921 Kerr Stuart 0-4-2ST locomotive, No.4 Edward Thomas.

Ieuan Wood's two shots taken at York on 25th May 2013 are next. Pic number twelve features East Coast Trains uniquely liveried class 91, 91110 Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Pic number fourteen is from Alan Rigby. Taken at St Helens Central on 1st June 2013, the shot depicts GBRf class 66, 66720, with a Doncaster - LBT working.

David Quayle has sent in the following three pics all taken at the recent NYMR Gala. First up, pic number fifteen, shows Stanier 'Black Five' No.45407, The Lancashire Fusilier at Grosmont on 10th May 2013.

Taken near Darnholme on 10th May 2013, this final shot from David, number seventeen, shows ex SR Urie/Maunsell 'S15' class 4-6-0, No.825, heading for Goathland with a passenger service of teak coaches.

Matthew Chambers has sent in the final three pics in this post. His first is quite special as it shows the very first GBRf class 66 (66720) on the Ince Moss Junction - Huyton line with a Doncaster Decoy -  LBT working. This was the second of three trials into LBT, taken on 1st June 2013.The pic was taken at Ince Moss Junction as the train stopped; the trials are due to engineering work between Huyton and Earlestown. Matthew adds that the new 66s -  66747, 66748 and 66749 - will be based in the NW.   Code - June A2

 Pic number nineteen from Matthew is of a rather weary looking class 37, 37521 English China Clays, taken at Norden on the Swanage Railway on 11th May 2013.

The final shot, number twenty, also from Matthew shows Colas class 56, 56302, on a Carlisle - Chirk logs working on 24th May 2013. The location was Wigan NW.

The voting system is simple - just send me the yellow May code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick, and Alternatives (UK and World combined).
