More Winwick and Beyond

Today's post, 15th April 2012, comprises ten more shots from seven contributors covering a dmu and diesel and steam locomotives.  Locations include our Winwick area, the East Lancs and Severn Valley Railways and Wales.



WINWICK



First up is a pic from Jeff Nicholls showing a class 158 dmu, 158 830, passing through Winwick on 14th April 2012. Dmu classes 142, 150 and 156 are the usual units passing through Winwick, 158s are not so common.

Pic number two has been sent in by Matthew Chambers. DRS class 37, 37038, is pictured at Bank Quay on 3rd April 2012.

Bob McClellan was at Earlestown Station on 13th April 2012 and photographed TATA Steel liveried class 60, 60099, on  a coal working LBT - FFPS.

The fourth pic is also from Bob McClellan. BR 'Standard' class '7', No,70013 Oliver Cromwell, is shown passing through Winwick, with support coach, on 13th April 2012. The working was Carnforth - Southall.

ALTERNATIVE UK PICS




Matthew Chambers has supplied pic number five, the first in this section. Pathfinder Tours railtour 'The Coal Grinder' is pictured at Newport with DRS class 37s, 37603 and 37606 at the head. On the tail is DRS class 66, 66304. The pic is dated 24th March 2012.






Pic number six is from Paul Holland. The East Lancs Railway is represented with this shot of 'Deltic' class 55, 55022 Royal Scots Grey at Bury. Paul's shot is dated 7th April 2012.

 David Wood has sent in pic number seven, taken by his late father  Ken, between 1889 and 1994. Ex LNER 'A4' class 4-6-2 No.4498 Sir Nigel Gresley is depicted at Bangor. Thanks David for this nostalgic pic and for the two others you have sent in.






Ex GWR small 'Prairie' class 2-6-2 No.4566, is up next, pic number eight from David Quayle. The location is Highley on the Severn Valley Railway and the date, 23rd March 2012.






The ninth pic is also from David Quayle. Taken at foggy Bewdley on 24th March 2012, ex GWR 'Manor class' 4-6-0, No.7812 Erlestoke Manor looks ready for work on the Severn Valley Railway.






The final pic, number ten, is from Ken Young. Taken at Collins Green on a misty 24th March 2012, Freightliner 'HeavyHaul' class 70, 70015, is pictured on an engineers working with a Freightliner class 66, 66xxx, on the adjacent line behind. The track work is necessary prior to electrification of the line.






I have received no entries yet for the 'Pic of the Month' March 2012 competition. All March dated qualifying pics posted between 1st March and 6th April, are highlighted in yellow. So, get cracking.... Winwick Area 1st, 2nd and 3rd and Alternatives (UK and World) 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Just give me the pic number, blog post date (not picture date) and photographer for each pic you choose. If you wish to view the pics at better resolution use the first set of instructions in slide show options to the right of the blog. It will be difficult to choose three, especially in the Alternatives section - the standard is so high.
