Today's post, 10th December 2011, continues our 'open season' with the Winwick area consigned to history for this month only. Another ten pics from eight contributors are used, reflecting the popularity of this temporary change.
First up is another North Yorkshire Moors Railway shot from Colin Platt. Two locos are shown at Grosmont; ex GWR 'Manor' class 4-6-0, No.7822 Foxcote Manor (normally a Llangollen Railway loco) and ex LMS Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0, 45428 Eric Treacy.
Next is a shot from Matthew Chambers showing two DRS class 20s, 20309 and 20308. standing at Crewe on 6th March 2011. The early morning lighting, or lack of it, adds to the ambience of the scene.
Pic number three is from Bob McClellan. Bob was at the Mid Hants Railway on 18th June 2011 and photographed 'U' class 2-6-0, No.31806, at Ropley heading SR green passenger coaches.
The fourth pic is one of a pair from John Smith, both showing the 'Northern Belle' Pullman railtour at St Helens Junction. Pic number four shows DRS class 47, 47712 Pride of Carlisle at the head, as the train approaches the station.
Pic number five, on the same day, shows the umber and cream liveried 47790 Galloway Princess on the tail of the train passing through the station. Both pics, four and five, are dated 17th August 2011.
Two Colas rail liveried class 47s, 47739 Robin of Templecombe and 47727 Rebecca are depicted at Crewe in pic number six from Alan Rigby. Sandwiched between them are three EWS (DBS) class 92s in a five locomotive consist. The working was Crewe - Dollands Moor and the date, 13th July 2011.
The seventh shot is from Paul Holland. An immaculate GWR, green liveried class 50, 50007 Sir Edward Elgar, is seen at Butterley with 'Peak' class 45, 45108, to the rear. The embedded electronic date is 16th August 2009.
Jeff Nicholls has supplied pic number eight, taken at Manchester Oxford Road on 9th December 2011 in fine pictorial lighting. EWS (DBS) class 66, 66145 is depicted on an intermodal (rail, ship, road vehicle etc.,) container working.
A BR 'Standard' class '9F' 2-10-0 of Robert Riddles, No 92212, is shown in pic number nine, from David Wood. Bridgenorth shed on the Severn Valley Railway is the location and 30th August 2011, the date. Note the smokebox door is slightly open.
The final pic in this post, number ten, is another super shot of an ex industrial workhorse taken on the Chasewater Railway. The photographer on this occasion was Bob McClellan and the loco, generously exuding copious volumes of exhaust, was Barclay 0-4-0ST No.3, Colin McAndrew. Bob's pic is dated 19th March 2011.
