Another ten pics are featured today, 7th December 2011, from nine contributors.
Pic number one, fittingly, is from Alan Rigby. This is Alan's 100th pic on the blog thus following John Smith, Jeff Nicholls and Geoff Monks in achieving this feat. Well done Alan. His pic shows a Barclay 0-6-0 tank No.38 Ajax on the Isle of Wight Railway, between Smallbrook Junction and Havenstreet. The pic is dated 16th August 2011.
Next up is Colin Platt's shot of a Urie/Maunsell S15 class 4-6-0 locomotive, pictured on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR). No.825 is shown exiting Grosmont on 1st October 2011. Seven of this class of ex London & South Western Railway (L&SWR) engines are preserved.
The third shot is from Jeff Nicholls. 'King Arthur' (N15) class 4-6-0 No.30777 Sir Lamiel is pictured at Irwell Vale on a pictorial East Lancashire Railway (ELR), on 21st February 2010. This locomotive is part of the National Collection.
Matthew Chambers has supplied pic number four. East Midland Trains HST class 43, 43046, is shown awaiting the off from Leeds, on 19th November 2011.
Stanier 'Black 5', 4-6-0 No.45305 is the subject of pic number five, from yours truly. Standing at Carlisle Station heading 'The Mersey Moorlander' railtour, the engine is ready to manoeuvre the train back to a platform to receive passengers. The special ran Crewe - Liverpool - Preston - Settle - Carlisle and returned down the WCML. The pic is dated 1st August 2011.
Bob McClellan has sent in pic number six. DBS liveried class 92, 92009 Marco Polo, is pictured at Bolton-le-Sands heading a container intermodal, on 21st September 2011.
Next up is a shot of a Grand Central Trains 'Adelante' class 180, from John Smith. The dmu, 180 101, is depicted at Burn on a Sunderland - Kings Cross working on 7th June 2011. The class of fourteen units was built in 2000-2001 by Alstom in Birmingham.
Barrow Hill Roundhouse is the famous location for shot number eight, from Matthew Chambers. Three locomotives can be seen with DRS class 20, 20308 to the fore. In the background is DRS class 37, 37409 Lord Hinton with BR (small logo) class 03, 03066, to the side. Matthew's pic is dated 25th September 2011.
The penultimate shot is from Dave Harris. The 'Northern Belle', a luxurious Pullman Car service, is featured headed by class 47, 47790 Galloway Princess. Both loco and carriages sport the same umber and cream livery. The working was Carlisle - Chester, the location, Dunham-on-the-Hill and the date, 15th October 2011.
Finally, pic number ten is from Paul Holland. WD Austerity 2-10-0, No.600 Gordon, is pictured at the new, Severn Valley Railway Engine House, at Highley. The pic is dated 8th June 2011.
