The 'Princess' and the 'Earl'

Two preserved steam locomotives form a fine introduction to today's blog, 9th March 2012. The two locomotives presented a not-to-be ignored opportunity today for our Winwick faithful as they passed through, double-heading on a northbound working, Tyseley - Carnforth. Together with other pics we have a total of ten pics from nine contributors in two sections.

WINWICK

The first pic of 'Castle' class 4-6-0 No.5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and 'Princess Royal' class 4-6-2 Princess Elizabeth, was taken at Winwick by Alan Rigby. Two support coaches were behind. The date was today, 9th March 2012.

Changing the subject, pic number four is from Geoff Monks. Operating in our area for several weeks now the DBS red liveried 'tug,' class 60 60007 The Spirit of Tom Kendell, is shown approaching Bank Quay with the mid-morning LBT - FFPS coal working, on 5th March 2012. The 'Switch on to Safety' logo can be seen clearly.
