Some superb pics from the ELR, together with twelve others comprise today's post, 3rd March 2014.
WINWICK & ELSEWHERE
First up are three pics from Jeff Nicholls. The first, taken at Culcheth on 25th February 2014 features an almost new class 350 on a Manchester Airport - Edinburgh working.
Jeff's second features double heading WCRC class 47s, 47760 and 47826 passing through Winwick on 26th February 2014. The working was empty stock, Carlisle - Tyseley.
The next shot from Jeff shows the new Colas Rail class 70s - 70803, 70804 and 70805 on a Liverpool Docks- Eastleigh move. The location was Bank Quay and the date, 20th February 2014.
Ieuan Wood has supplied the next shot, taken at Bank Quay on 22nd February 2014. The blue class 86, 86259 Les Ross is pictured on the Cumbrian Mountain Express, Carlisle - Euston special.
The next two shots are from John Smith. The first depicts Tug 60035 heading empty coal hoppers on a FFPS - LBT working. The date was 25th February 2014 and the location, Collins Green.
John's next shot features another Tug, the Drax biomass liveried class 60, 60066 on a similar working at the same location on 26th February 2014.
Alan Rigby's shot of DRS class 47, 47853 is next. The loco was banking a train headed by EWS (DRS) class 90, 90020 Collingwood and DRS class 47, 47805 through Winwick on 2nd February 2014. The working was Crewe - Carlisle.
David Quayle has sent in then next four pics which I think indicate why he was the 'Alternatives Section, Photographer of the Year, 2013'. His first shows a parcels charter at Burrs Country Park on the ELR headed by Thompson 'B1' class 4-6-0, No. 61264, on 5th February 2014.
David's second shot shows another parcels charter on the ELR at the same location but headed by ex BR 'Standard' class '4' 2-6-0, No.76084. This pic is also dated 5th February 2014.
Pic number three from David shows ex BR 'Standard' class '4MT' 2-6-4, No.80080 crossing Roch Viaduct at Bury on 22nd February 2014.
David's final shot features ex BR 'Standard' class '4' 2-6-0, No. 76084, heading another parcels charter out of Nuttall Tunnel on the ELR on 5th February 2014.
Geoff Monks was also at the ELR but on 16th February 2014, and he also photographed 76084. The working in Geoff's shot, however, was a Heywood - Rawtenstall passenger service.
Another shot from Geoff shows the Drax biomass liveried class 60, 60066 at Slutchers Lane on an empty coal working on 28th February 2014.
The next shot has been sent in by Bob McClellan. The same class 60 features again 60066, this time taken at Widnes on 26th February 2014.
The same class 60 features yet again in Ieuan Wood's shot taken at Lea Green on 25th February 2014.
Our final shot is from David Wood. David was at Rainhill to photograph the new Colas class 70's 70803, 804 and 805 on 20th February 2014. This is his first attempt at a night shot, so well done David.
