More NYMR Pics

Three more pics from the recent North Yorkshire Moors Gala are included in today's post, 28th May 2013. Ten other shots make up the baker's dozen - six contributors are represented.
 
 
WINWICK
 
 
The first two pics are from John Smith. Pic number one shows Freightliner class 66, 66587 and Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70005, both with engineers workings at Earlestown on 19th May 2013.

The third and fourth pics are from Geoff Monks. Pic number three shows Freightliner class 66, 66596 with another engineers working, passing through Winwick on 25th May 2013. The Preston - Crewe run was an 'extra'.

Our fourth pic, and Geoff's second, was also taken at Winwick but on 22nd May 2013. Blue liveried 'Celebrity' (Teenage Cancer Trust) class 60, 60074 Teenage Spirit, is pictured heading empty coal hoppers to FFPS from LBT.

Following on in similar fashion is a pair from Jeff Nicholls. Pic number five features the two DRS class 37s which were regulars on our patch at the beginning of May. In this pic three Network Rail measurement coaches are sandwiched between DRS class 37, 37602 (top) and DRS class 37, 37610 T.S. Cassady (tail). The pic is dated  8th May 2013 and the location was Winwick.

Jeff's second shot, number six overall, shows another 'Celebrity' loco, the privately owned, blue class 86, 86259 Les Ross. The electric loco was heading north on a Euston - Carlisle railtour as far as Carnforth, where Stanier 'Pacific', No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland was waiting to take over.

The final shot, number seven in this section, is from Ieuan Wood. Two WCRC locos are shown passing through Winwick with a 'Northern Belle' empty stock move on 12th May 2013. The locos were class 47, 47786 Roy Castle O.B.E. and an unidentified class 57.

Pic eleven is the first of a trio from David Quayle, taken at the recent NYMR Gala. Pic eleven shows Stanier 'Black Five' 4-6-0, No.45407 The Lancashire Fusilier, standing next to BR 'Standard' class 4 4-6-0, No.75029 The Green Knight, at Grosmont. The latter loco was sold to the NYMR by artist David Shepherd in order to pay for an overhaul on his second loco, class '9F', 92203 Black Prince. David's pic is dated 10th May 2013.

 Pic twelve from David features Nigel Gresley's 'Streak' 4-6-2, No.60007 Sir Nigel Gresley at Grosmont, on the same day, 10th May 2013. Diesel class 24, D5061, is also included in the pic.

Our final pic in this post is David's third, number thirteen overall. Undergoing some minor maintenance at Grosmont are No.60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and Thompson 'B1' class 4-6-0 No.61264 running as No.61002 Impala.  The date was the same, 10th May 2013.

Pictorial Stories (2)

I began this series on 25th April 2013 asking for contributors to send in three or four pics on a theme - this contribution in today's post, 23rd May 2013, is from David Quayle and shows the 'A4' No.60007 at the NYMR a couple of weeks ago. David attended the 40th Anniversary Festival and Spring Steam Gala on 10th May 2013 and sent in the following pics, all featuring the Gresley 'Pacific' named after the famous GNR/LNER Mechanical Engineer.
 
 
Pic one features the Gresley 'Streak' No.60007 Sir Nigel Gresley (the 100th Gresley 'Pacific') emerging from the tunnel at Grosmont, passing Stanier  'Black Five' 4-6-0, No.45407 The Lancashire Fusilier.

Three Steam, Six Diesel Classes.

Thirteen more pics in today's post, 19th May 2013, from seven contributors. As the title describes, three steam and six diesel classes are represented.
 
 
WINWICK
 
 
First up are three pics from Jeff Nicholls. Pic one features John Cameron's 'Streak', one of Gresley's finest, No. 60009 Union of South Africa. The loco was working day 5 of the 'Cathedrals Explorer' - Bangor - Hexham. Jeff's pic is dated 13th May 2013 and the location was Golborne.

Jeff's next, pic number two, shows two DRS class 37s which were around recently with a Network Rail working. They were 37602T and T37610. The location was Winwick and the date, 8th May 2013.

Pic number three, also from Jeff, features the 'Deltic' class 55, 55022 Royal Scots Grey at Parkside Junction on 24th April 2013.The loco was about to take the Parkside East curve on its way from the ELR to Glasgow Works.

Pic seven shows the Celebrity 'Tug' No.60074 Teenage Spirit passing through Winwick on 13th may 2013. The working was LBT-FFPS coal. The 'Tug' represents the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Pics nine and ten have been sent in by Matthew Chambers. Pic nine shows a couple of class 20s, 20142 and 20189 at the Swanage Railway (Nordon) on 11th May 2013. The latter is used to haul London Underground units around the rail network and was painted in its current livery to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the London Underground Network.

Our eleventh pic is from Jeff Nicholls. This is a shot from Toton taken on 10th May 2013. In the picture are EWS (DBS) class 60s, 60051, 60022 and 60052 (behind) all in store and class 08, 08994 with its cut down cab from when it worked in South Wales on the ex Burry Port and Gwyndraeth Railway.

Ten for May

As the title suggests this post, 12th May 2013, comprises ten pics taken in May, by five contributors.



WINWICK


Pic number one is from Jeff Nicholls. Ex LNER (Thompson) 'B1' class 4-6-0, No.61306 Mayflower is pictured passing through Winwick  on a Washwood Heath - Carnforth working. The train was late as on the previous day it had failed around Walsall. Jeff's pic is dated 1st May 2013.

Next up, pic number two, is a second shot from Jeff Nicholls. Two class 37s and a class 66 are shown about to pass at Winwick on 1st May 2013. The two DRS class 37s were 37611 (Top) and 37603 (Tail) with a Network Rail train, and the DRS class 66 was 66433, on an intermodal working.

Pic number three has been sent in by David Wood. A similar Network Rail train as the one  above is shown at Winwick but with different DRS class 37s in charge. They were 37602 (Top) and 37610 (Tail). The date was 8th May 2013.

'Pics of the Month, March 2013' - RESULTS + More April shots
