Pictorial Stories (2)

I began this series on 25th April 2013 asking for contributors to send in three or four pics on a theme - this contribution in today's post, 23rd May 2013, is from David Quayle and shows the 'A4' No.60007 at the NYMR a couple of weeks ago. David attended the 40th Anniversary Festival and Spring Steam Gala on 10th May 2013 and sent in the following pics, all featuring the Gresley 'Pacific' named after the famous GNR/LNER Mechanical Engineer.

Pic one features the Gresley 'Streak' No.60007 Sir Nigel Gresley (the 100th Gresley 'Pacific') emerging from the tunnel at Grosmont, passing Stanier  'Black Five' 4-6-0, No.45407 The Lancashire Fusilier.

David's fourth shot is a close up of the plaque recording the occasion when No.60007 broke the post war speed record - 112mph - on 23rd may 2013. Details of this achievement can be found through the following link :  http://www.sirnigelgresley.org.uk/23-05-1959.html

Voting is underway for the 'Pic of the Month', April 2013 competition. The voting system is simple - just send me the yellow April code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick, and Alternatives (UK and World combined). All April dated pics posted between April 15th and 3rd May, are eligible and have code numbers. My email address is at the top of the blog. Every one of you, contributors or not, can vote.
