In this post, 12th January 2013, I am using ten pics from seven contributors covering three sections, Winwick area, Alternative UK areas and 'Retro' pics (pre 2000). To make the Winwick area more inclusive I am extending the 'area' along the L&M line to Rainhill, which includes Lea Green and St Helens Junction.
WINWICK
First up is the blue 'tug', No.60074 Teenage Spirit, pic no.1 from Jeff Nicholls. The loco is on an empty coal working from Arpley Yard to Walton sidings to 'run round'. Jeff's pic is dated 2nd January 2013.

Pic number two is another from Jeff. DRS class 47, 47813, is pictured approaching Newton-le-Willows on a DRS driver training working, Crewe - Stoke via Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Victoria and Stockport. The working runs Monday to Thursday until 24th January 2013.

David Wood has sent in pic number four taken at Rainhill on 7th January 2013. The working was LBT-FFPS coal headed by the blue class 60, 60074 Teenage Spirit.

TATA Steel class 60, 60099, is pictured next on a LBT-FFPS coal working at Whiston on 2nd January 2013. The pic, number five, is from Ieuan Wood.

GBRf class 66, 66733, is up next in John Smith's pic, number six, taken on 9th January 2013. The location was Sandforth Lane east of Knottingley; the working was Eggborough Power Station - Immingham.

'RETRO' PICS (Pre 2000)
Pic number seven has been sent in by David Quayle. Gresley 'Streak' 4-6-2, No.60027 Merlin, is pictured at Carlisle on 7th August 1965.
David has also sent in pic number eight taken at Carlisle Kingmoor shed on 1st April 1967. The loco is Stanier class '8F' 2-8-0, No.48683.
Harry Tranter's pic taken at Doncaster Works is up next, pic number nine. Gresley 'A3' class 4-6-2, No.60048 Doncaster, is pictured on 18th August 1961.
Pic number ten is from Jeff Nicholls. Taken with a Brownie 44B 127 camera on 3rd January 1967, the loco is BR 'Standard' class '3' 2-6-2T, No.82003, standing at Patricroft.
Voting has started for the 'Pic of the Month', December 2012 competition. The voting system is simple - just send me the yellow December code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick and Alternatives (UK and World combined).
