SVR and GCR Galas revisited

For today, 10th October 2012, I am using eleven pics from seven contributors featuring a huge range of motive power.

WINWICK

First up is the green 'Duchess' pictured at Winwick on 8th October 2012 by John Smith. The giant Stanier 'Pacific', No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland, and support coach, were travelling south.

Code - October W1

Next, pic number two, is one of a pair from Jeff Nicholls. This one shows double heading DRS class 57s, 57004 and 57008, on an intermodal working through Winwick on 28th September 2012.

Jeff's next pic, number three overall, depicts EWS (DBS) class 66, 66013, on another intermodal working. The location and date were the same, Winwick and 28th September 2012.

ALTERNATIVE UK PICS

Pics, numbers four and five, are from David Quayle's recent visit to the Severn Valley Railway Gala. Number four features the BR Western Region, class 15 pannier tank, No.1501, at Bewdley on 21st September 2012. All ten, class 15s were built in 1949 and No.1501 is the only survivor.

David's second pic, number five, is another from the SVR taken on 21st September 2012. Pictured is the Bulleid 'Light Pacific' (BOB) No.34053 Sir Keith Park, also at Bewdley. The loco is owned by Southern Locomotives Ltd.

Geoff Monks has sent in pic number six, taken on the Great Central Railway Gala on 6th October 2012. Pictured are 'Schools' class 4-4-0 No.925 Cheltenham, double heading with 'King Arthur' class 4-6-0 No.777 Sir Lamiel. The pair are shown  passing Woodthorpe Lane with a Loughborough Central - Leicester North passenger working.
Code - October A1

Matthew Chambers has sent in pics, numbered seven and eight. Pic seven shows double heading class 20s, 20302 and 20301 at Doncaster on 29th September 2012.

Pic number eight was taken at Carlisle on 15th September 2012. Matthew photographed Nationalised East Coast class 91, 91102 City of York, at the station.

A 'golden oldie' is next, from David Wood, pic number nine. The APT No.370 002 was pictured at Carlisle on 26th April 1984.

Our tenth pic has been sent in by Alan Rigby. Alan was at Tamworth High Level Station on 26th September 2012 and photographed DBS class 60, 60063, storming through. The working was Westerleigh - Lyndsey empty tanks.

Another old pic, number eleven, is next courtesy of Bob McClellan. 'Peak' class 45, No.45130 is shown at Newton-le-Willows on 16th May 1983. The passenger express was working Liverpool - Newcastle.

In the near future I will prepare a special post, composed only of older pics, say pre 1990. If you can send in some pics or scans then please do so. The pics will not be in sections, therefore any location will be OK.

Voting has started for the 'Pic of the Month', September 2012 competition. The voting system is simple - just send me the yellow September code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick and Alternatives (UK and World combined). All September dated pics posted between September 4th and October 4th are eligible and have code numbers. My email address is at the top of the blog. Everyone reading this post is eligible to vote, contributor or not.
