Eleven from Seven
Eleven pics pack today's post, 26th July 2012, sent in by seven contributors. This is also the final day for voting in the June competition; as previously explained, the closing date has been brought forward. You have until 12pm tonight to vote, if you havn't already done so. All of you, contributors or non-contributors, can vote. I will post the winners on, Friday 27th. The voting for the July competition will start on July 28th.
WINWICK
First up is a pic from Jeff Nicholls. It is an unusual but very effective shot showing the popular 'silver bullets' (china clay) working as we don't normally see it. The loco at the head is DBS class 92, 92031. The date was 6th June 2012 and the location, Bank Quay.
Pic number two is from Bob McClellan. EWS (DBS) class 60, 60045 Spirit of Jaguar is shown on the Winwick bi-directional up slow line, on an empty coal hoppers working, back to LBT. Bob's pic is dated 23rd March 2012.

The 'Streak' Union of South Africa features strongly in today's post 24th July 2012. We have another ten pics on view from eight contributors including three of the 'A4'.

Our first pic is from Jeff Nicholls. 'The North Wales Coast Express' passed the Leigh Golf Club at Culcheth on 22nd July 2012 with class 47, 47270 Swift, on the tail.The train is shrouded in exhaust fom the 'A4' at the head (see next pic).

The working was an empty stock move from Wembley to Preston in order to work a Preston - Euston service the same evening. The pic is dated 22nd July 2012.

Following my continued pleas for voters the situation is improving slightly. However, it is noticeable that some contributors who are not voting are doing well in the competitions.

ALTERNATIVE WORLD PICS
Pic number eleven, the first for quite a while in this Alternative World Pics section, is from David Wood. It was taken on the Brienz Rothorn Bahn in Switzerland on 20th August 2009. Two short trains are shown in a particularly pictorial, mountain setting. The rack railroad driven by steam engines climbs over a height difference of 1,678 feet and takes about one hour.
