Today's post, 26th June 2016, is a monster as several contributors have sent in over thirty pics during the last couple of weeks or so. I can't use them all but here are thirty of them..... representing the largest post by far on this blog.
WINWICK & BEYOND
The first set of pics are from Jeff Nicholls. His first was taken at Toddington on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway (GWR) Pictured is 'Modified Hall' class 4-6-0 of Frederick Hawksworth, No.7903 Foremarke Hall, departing for Cheltenham Spa Racecourse. The pic is dated, 8th June 2016.
Jeff's second shot was also taken at Toddington on 8th June 2016. Featured is 'Rebuilt Merchant Navy' class 4-6-2 of Oliver Bulleid, No.35006 Peninsular and Oriental S.N. Co. on a similar service to the Racecourse Station.
Jeff's third shot shows Virgin class 91, 91101 Flying Scotsman ready to depart Kings Cross for Leeds on 7th June 2016.
Also taken at Kings Cross on the same date was Virgin HST Power Car 43274 City of Sunderland.
The ELR at Ramsbottom on 11th June 2016, is the location for Jeff's fifth shot. Pictured is ex BR class 14 diesel-hydraulic D9531 (also known as Ernest) on a Rawtenstall - Heywood train.
Number six from Jeff was taken at Banbury on 7th June 2016. Freightliner class 66, 66594 is shown on a Southampton - Leeds train - Jeff adds that the semaphore signals will disappear soon as modernisation takes place.
DRS class 68, 68010 in Chiltern Mainline livery is pictured next from Jeff, The location was Kings Sutton (near Banbury) and the working was Marylebone - Kidderminster. The Adtranz 'Clubman' class 168 unit, 168003, was on a Stratford -on - Avon to Marylebone service.
Jeff's final shot, his eighth, was taken at St Pancras on 7th July 2016 and features unidentified Eurostar units
Next are nine pics taken by Alan Rigby on a recent trip to Switzerland. First up is the unit 3507 on the sharp curve into Alp Grum Station.
Next is loco 649 waiting at St Moritz to work a train to Chur.
Alan's third pic features loco 622 at Chur waiting to depart to Brig with the Glacier Express.
Pic number four was taken at Visp Station. Pictured is loco 1293 waiting in the loop with a freight working.
Next is loco 232 103 shunting at Visp Station.
Our final Swiss shot from Alan was taken at Montreaux and shows a MTGN Railway loco sporting some fine graphics.
Alan's seventh shot was taken at Dukes Lane Crossing, Crawford on 21st June 2016. Pictured is EWS (DBS) class 66, 66181 working Knowsley Freight Terminal - Wilton EFW Terminal.
Following an announcement in an earlier post this next picture shows the present work on the bridge, on our patch at Old Alder Lane. Alan took this pic on 21st June 2016.
Double heading DRS class 68s are the subject of Alan's ninth shot taken at Winwick on 21st June 2016. The locos were 68021 and 68005 Defiant.The working was Motherwell - Daventry.
Welcome to new contributor Alan Spencer - I hope this is the first of many posts including his pics. Featured are Royal Mail class 325 units (12 car set) led by 325002. The location was the Winwick area and the working was Warrington Royal Mail (DBS) - Willesden (Prdc).
The next two shots are from David Wood and feature Flying Scotsman. The first was taken at Bangor Station on 15th June 2016 and shows No.60103 on the Euston - Holyhead Special.
David's second shot of Scotsman was taken as the train approached Badorgan Station.
The following shot is from Ieuan Wood. Depicted is GBRf class 66, 66712 Peterborough Power Signalbox on Liverpool Biomass Tml - Drax working on 22nd June 2016. The location was Rainhill.
Geoff Monks has sent in the next three pics. The first shows EWS (DBS) class 66, 66009 at Millmeece on a Southhampton - Garston, vehicle transporter working. The pic is dated 6th June 2016.
Geoff's second shot features Freightliner class 90, 90041 approaching Searchlight Lane Junc' on the recently opened Norton Bridge deviation route. The working was Felixstowe - Crewe and the date, 6th June 2016.
The third pic from Geoff was taken at the same place on the same date. The double heading Freightliner class 86's were- 86608 and 866638 and the working was a Felixstowe - Trafford Park intermodal.
The final six pics are from David Quayle's recent visits to Spain and Portugal. The first two are from Bilbao's Abando Indalecio Prieto Station. This one shows the interior with platform five hosting a passenger. train.
David's second shot focuses on the magnificent window at the station.
David's next three shots were all taken in Portugal's capital city of Lisbon.The first was taken at Santa Apolonia Station.
Santa Apolonia Station was again, the scene for this shot.
This vertical shot was taken at Oriente Station.
David's sixth and final shot is of a preserved steam locomotive in the port building at Leixoes, the seaport for Porto. No.251 was built in 1884.
