Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway

Is this a first for the blog - pics from the C&PRR? The four pics in today's post, 6th June 2016, comprise part of a larger post of nineteen, from five contributors.


WINWICK & BEYOND


First up are nine pics from Jeff Nicholls. His first four were taken at the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway on 5th June 2016.



Pic number one shows 55023, on a short run along part of the line on the outskirts of Chinnor, and smoking like a steam loco.





Next is DBS class 66, 66185 on loan for the weekend pictured near Chinnor hauling a 3-coach 4CEP unit.








Shot number three features London Transport 0-6-0 Pannier tank No.L92 pictured at Horsenden Lane Crossing.









Jeff's fourth pic from the C&PRR shows Diesel shunter D8568, the only surviving example of a Clayton Type 1 - 117 were built.








This next shot from Jeff was taken on 30th May 2016 at Goswick, just south of Berwick-on-Tweed. Depicted is East Coast Trains class 91, 91115 Blaydon Races working Edinburgh - Kings Cross.







Next up is WCRC class 37, 37706 towing preserved class 40, 40106 (D306) from Carnforth to the ELR, where it will join two other class members. Jeff dates this shot 20th May 2016.








Top and tailing class 70s are the subject of these seventh and eighth shots from Jeff which I have montaged, to highlight the T&T effect. They were 73963 Janice and 73962 Dick Mabbutt. The working was a Crewe - Derby via Merseyside test train, passing through Winwick at 7am.










The final shot, number nine, from Jeff features DRS, class 57s, 57306 Her Majesty's Railway Inspectorate, and 57305 Northern Princess. They were T&T working Coventry - Windermere on the 'Northern Belle' Pullman service,  The location was Red Bank and the date, 14th May 2016.





Next up is a shot from Ieuan Wood taken on 20th May 2016. The 'Northern Belle' is featured again, this time T&T by two DRS class 68s - 68016 Fearless and 68017 Hornet. The working was Manchester Victoria - Liverpool LS and return and the location was Eccleston Park.







David Wood has sent in the following four shots. First is an old example of a monochrome taken by his late father Ken in the 1980's. The loco is BR 'Standard' class '7' 4-6-2, No.70000 Britannia, at Bangor where he was on duty (signal box?).







Next up from David are two shots from the same spot, Malltreath Viaduct, Anglesey, on 23rd May 2016. This one shows Aviva class 67, 67002.







Pic three from David features a Virgin class 221 'Voyager 'diesel / electric set at the same spot, same day, working Holyhead - Euston.







David's fourth shot is of a Virgin 'Pendolino' set, on diversion through Whiston, on 25th April 2016.










Its up to the National Museum at Shildon for the next two shots, taken on 13th May 2016, and sent in by David Quayle. The first features 4 locos, - ex LMS class '7F' (L&NWR class 'G2') 0-8-0, No.49395; ex SR 'BoB' class  4-6-2, No.34051 Winston Churchill; ex LNER 'V2' class 2-6-2, No.4771 (60800) Green Arrow and ex L&NWR 'Improved Precedent' class 2-4-0, No.790 Hardwicke.




David's second shot shows a replica of Sans Pareil one of the locos at the 1829 Rainhill Trials. In the foreground is ex LMS 'Black Five' 4-6-0, No.45000.








Finally, Bevan Price  has sent in three shots taken at three different but local spots. His first was taken at Ravenhead Works in St Helens and shows EWS (DBS) class 66, 66109.The 'grab' is transferring sand from the rail wagon to a road vehicle on 9th May 2016.






Featured in Bevan's second pic are double heading DBC (Cargo) class 90s - 90019 and 90029. The working was a Mossend - Daventry intermodal on 24th May 2016. The location was Worthington (near Standish).








The final shot in this post, from Bevan, was taken at Astley (site of the former station) on 29th May 2016. The loco was Freightliner class 66, 66617 on an engineering train, working from Acton Grange Junc' to Basford Hall.
