Llangollen Revisited

For this post, 23rd April 2013, I am using 15 pics sent in by eight contributors. Two shots feature the steam railmotor 93 recently restored and the autotrailer 92 running together for the photographic faithful. In the next post I will divert from normal practise and publish a picture story of this unique pair put together by David Quayle, and another picture story of the Wednesday only 'Wigan Wagons', journey around Springs Branch, from Jeff Nicholls.

First up are two shots from Ieuan Wood. Pic one shows GBRf class 66, 66709 on the gypsum working through Winwick on 16th April 2013.

Jeff Nicholls has sent in pics three and four. Pic three shows the 'Deltic' class 55, (D9009) 55009 Alycidon at Culcheth early on the morning of 6th April 2013.

Pic number six is from David Quayle. Ex GWR 0-6-0 pannier tank, No.6430, is shown near Glyndyfrdwy (towards Carrog) on the Llangollen Railway with a passenger service. David's pic is dated 20th April 2013.

David Hennessey was also at the same gala and took the next shot, number seven, of ex GWR 'Manor' class 4-6-0, No.7822 Foxcote Manor, at Berwyn on 19th April 2013.

Jeff Nicholl's shot of WCRC class 47, 47245 is up next. The shot, number eight overall, was taken at Acton Bridge and shows a Carnforth - Southall empty stock working on 19th April 2013.

New build (getting on a bit now...) Peppercorn class 'A1' 4-6-2, No. 60163 Tornado, is up next, pic number nine. It was taken on Anglesey from the Valley direction on 20th April 2013 by David Wood.

Pic number ten is from from Bob McClellan and features Tornado once more. The loco is photographed at Beeston (before it broke down) on 20th April 2013.

A second shot from Bob, number eleven overall, features EWS (DBS) class 66, 66129 on a working of empty cement tanks, Willesden - Tunstead. The location was Northwich South Junction and the date, 16th April 2013.

 Pic number twelve was sent in by David Quayle. The steam railmotor No.93 is shown with the autotrailer No.92 on the Llangollen Railway near Glyndyfrdwy on 20th April 2013. The picturesque River Dee is to the fore.

David Hennessey has also sent in a pic of a similar service, west of Glyndyfrdwy, but taken a day earlier on 19th April 2013. The shuttle service is heading towards Bonwm on the Corwen extension towards Carrog.

Geoff Monks was also at Llangollen and took pic number fourteen as ex BR 'Standard' class '4' 2-6-4T No.80072 was leaving Glydyfrdwy on a goods working on 20th April 2013.

The final pic, number fifteen, is from Alan Rigby. Taken on his recent trip to the Swanage Railway (you really get about you guys...) his shot features ex BR 'Standard' class '4' 2-6-4T No.80104, at Swanage running round its carriages. Alan's pic is date 3rd April 2013.
