Mix of Steam, Electric and Diesel.

Twelve pics comprise today's post, 25th February 2013. Six contributors are represented.

WINWICK

First up is a pic from David Hennessey. DBS class 60, 60011, is pictured at Slutchers Lane on the FFPS 'coal run' on 16th February 2013.

Next, pic number two, is from Bob McClellan. Another DBS class 60, 60092, is shown close to Fiddlers Ferry Marina on an empty coal working. The pic is dated 21st February 2013.

Jeff Nicholls has sent in pic number three. The TATA steel liveried 'tug' is shown at Winwick on 13th February 2013, in a blizzard. The working was coal (what would we photograph without coal?).

The same loco is pictured next, pic number four, from Bob McClellan. The working this time is gypsum and the location, Red Bank. Bob's pic is dated 13th February 2013.

Our next two pics have been supplied by Jeff Nicholls. Number five shows EWS (DBS) class 66, 66083, on a car transporter (land rovers) Halewood - Southampton working through Tamworth on 20th February 2013.

Pic six from Jeff was taken at the same location on the same date. Pictured is privately owned 90003, Raedwald of East Anglia, in Greater Anglia branding and DRS class 47, 47802. The 90 has been under repair at Crewe and is currently out of service.

Pic seven is from David Quayle. Taken over the weekend at the ELR Gala David's shot features the ex BR 'Standard' class '4MT' 2-6-4, No.80080, standing at Bury Baron Street. The pic is dated 23rd February 2013.

Pic number eight is also from David's trip to the same Gala. Ex LNER 'K4' class 4-6-0, No 61994 The Great Marquess, is shown double heading, tail to tail, with Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0, No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier. The location was Bury Baron Street and the date, 23rd February 2013.

David Wood has sent in the next two pics. Number ten shows Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70016, heading a Network Rail engineers working about to pass GBRf class 66, 66701, with an intermodal working. The pic is dated 20th February 2013; the location was Chorlton.

The same pairing as shown in pic number six above, is repeated in pic eleven from David. The location was different however - Chorlton - but the date was the same 20th February 2013.

Matthew Chambers has sent in pics eleven and twelve. Pic eleven was taken at Doncaster on 16th February 2013. Pictured is double heading pair of GBRf class 66s, 66729 Derby County and 66713, Forest City.

The final pic, number twelve, from Matthew features a coal working taken at Wigan North Western Station on 7th February 2013. A low sun has produced an excellent 'glinter' pic, side-lighting the train headed by TATA steel liveried class 60, 60099.

More Winwick and Alternatives

Today's post, 20th February 2013, comprises six Winwick area shots and six more in the Alternative UK section. Six contributors are represented.

WINWICK

David Hennessey has provided our first two pics. Number one shows the TATA Steel liveried class 60, 60099, with an empty coal hopper working off Slutchers Lane. The pic is dated 16th February 2013.

David's second shot features the blue class 86, 86259 Les Ross, on the 'Winter Cumbrian Express' at Bank Quay. The pic is dated 16th February 2013.

Pic number three is from Jeff Nicholls. Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70015, is pictured on a short Crewe-Carlisle engineers working on 13th February 2013.

Our fourth pic is from Bob McClellan. Depicted is the daily 'Russell' intermodal working headed by DRS class 66, 66433, through Winwick on 13th February 2013.

GBRf class 66, 66717 Good Old Boy is next, in pic number five, from David Wood. Taken at Winwick on 30th January 2013 the working was biomass.

The 'silver bullets' (china clay) working is next although the tanks are hardly shining these days. The pic, number six, was taken on 7th February 2013, by Alan Rigby. The loco at the head is EWS (DBS) class 92, 92019 Wagner; the location was Winwick.

ALTERNATIVE UK PICS

First up, pic number seven, is from Matthew Chambers. Matthew travelled to Doncaster on 16th February 2013 to photograph the newly named GNER class 91, 91007 SKYFALL. The loco with its MK4 set was vinyl wrapped with James Bond artwork related to the latest film. The selected loco was 91107, re-numbered of course. The naming ceremony had been held at Euston earlier on the same day.

Pic number eight from Matthew shows the the other end of the train with DVT 82231 branded in a similar way. The date was the same, 16th February 2013.

Double heading class 37s are up next, pic number nine from Matthew again. Taken at Bescot on a Pathfinder Tours charter, the DRS 37s were 37218 and 37609. This pic is dated 7th February 2013.

Ex GNR class 'N2' 0-6-2 tank, No.1744 (BR No.69523), is up next from David Quayle, pic number ten. Quorn & Woodhouse on the GCR was the location and the pic is dated 26th January 2013.

David has also sent in pic number eleven. The William Stanier and Oliver Bulleid duo of 4-6-0 No.45407 The Lancashire Fusilier and 4-6-2 No.34046 Braunton are the focus on the ELR at Bury. The pic is dated 19th January 2013.

The final pic, number twelve, has been sent in by Alan Rigby. Pictured is the WCRC class 47, 47500, which hit the headlines a few weeks ago for catching fire near Manchester. In Alan's shot the loco is temporarily stored at the Museum of Science and Industry. Alan's pic was taken on 7th February 2013.

Ten from Six

Today's post, 14th February 2013, comprises ten pics from six contributors.

WINWICK

First up is a shot from Alan Rigby of GBRf class 66, 66705 Golden Jubilee, working Carlisle - Whitemoor with loaded spoil. The pic is dated 7th February 2013 and the location was Winwick.

Pic number two is from Ieuan Wood. Featured is the 'Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' running Euston - Carlisle - Euston. The location was Red Bank and the date, 9th February 2013. The loco, class 86 86529 Les Ross, is preserved.

Our third pic has been sent in by Jeff Nicholls. Freightliner 'Heavyhaul' class 70, 70006, is shown after the Latchford run-round near Slutchers Lane with an Ellesmere Port - FFPS coal working. The pic is dated 6th February 2013.

Bury on the ELR is the location for Ieuan Wood's pic, number seven, taken at a recent Gala on 20th January 2013. Shown are ex SR 'WC' class 4-6-2, No.34046 Braunton, and 'Jinty' 0-6-0 tank, No. 47324, renumbered as 47584 taken by the Bury signal box.

Pic number eight is from David Quayle taken at the same Gala as pic number seven above. Featured is 'WC' class 4-6-2 No.34046 Braunton, David's pic was taken on 19th January 2013.

Matthew Chambers has sent in pics nine and ten, both of condemned locos stored at Barrow Hill. The first shows DRS class 37, 37087 Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, on 2nd February 2013.

Best Alternative UK & World Pic, 2012 - Entries

Following yesterday's entries for the Best Winwick Pic, 2012, today's post 6th February 2013, is another important one. All of you, viewers and contributors, are invited to take part. The object - to judge the Best Photograph from the entries below. The pics are the winners from the 2012 Monthly competitions in the 'Alternative Uk & World' section of Along Winwick Lines; they are individually code numbered above to make judging easy. Please send your first four choices to the email address above.

Remember, you are voting for photographs not photographers, please put all bias aside and vote truthfully. Obviously, you cannot vote for yourself.

Remember to vote for both sections in this and the previous post. Closing date for both sections is 2400hrs 28th February 2013.

Note that for month 4, joint winners were declared, hence the postcripts a and b. However, for month 10, because of the huge number of pics posted in the Alternatives section (32), I added that the first two would be put forward for the 'Best Pic' award, But there were joint seconds, so three pics were required from month 10, hence postscripts a, b and c.

I have been informed that for some reason pics A1, A10c and A12 cannot be viewed below in the larger size when 'clicked'. I cannot rectify this at the moment. So, using the archive at the right hand side of the blog, look up the following posts - 4th February 2013 for A12; 3rd December 2012 for 10c; 4th March 2012 for A1.
