Ten from Six

Today's post, 14th February 2013, comprises ten pics from six contributors.

WINWICK


First up is a shot from Alan Rigby of GBRf class 66, 66705 Golden Jubilee, working Carlisle - Whitemoor with loaded spoil. The pic is dated 7th February 2013 and the location was Winwick.

Pic number two is from Ieuan Wood. Featured is the 'Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' running Euston - Carlisle - Euston. The location was Red Bank and the date, 9th February 2013. The loco, class 86 86529 Les Ross, is preserved.

Our third pic has been sent in by Jeff Nicholls. Freightliner 'Heavyhaul' class 70, 70006, is shown after the Latchford run-round near Slutchers Lane with an Ellesmere Port - FFPS coal working. The pic is dated 6th February 2013.

The first two pics in this section are from Geoff Monks. First up, pic number four overall, shows Colas class 56, 56094, at Docker (between Tebay and Oxenholme) on a Carlisle - Chirk logs working on 2nd February 2013.

Bury on the ELR is the location for Ieuan Wood's pic, number seven, taken at a recent Gala on 20th January 2013. Shown are ex SR 'WC' class 4-6-2, No.34046 Braunton, and 'Jinty' 0-6-0 tank, No. 47324, renumbered as 47584 taken by the Bury signal box.







Pic number eight is from David Quayle taken at the same Gala as pic number seven above. Featured is 'WC' class 4-6-2 No.34046 Braunton, David's pic was taken on 19th January 2013.








Matthew Chambers has sent in pics nine and ten, both of condemned locos stored at Barrow Hill. The first shows DRS class 37, 37087 Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, on 2nd February 2013.

In addition to the two 'Pics of the Month' competitions described in the previous two posts voting continues for the 'Pic of the Month', January 2013 competition. The voting system is simple - just send me the yellow January code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section, Winwick and Alternatives (UK and World combined). All January dated pics posted between January 12th and February 2nd are eligible and have code numbers. My email address is at the top of the blog.

The closing date February 28th is approaching for the 'Pic of the Month Competitions' 2012 and it is important that we receive as many votes as possible. Please vote, particularly those non-contributors who just like to browse our blog.
