Today's post comprises six pics from four contributors. As the number of contributions decreases as we approach the end of 2012, in the next post I will use the 'retro' pics stored in the 'bank' for another 20th century post.
WINWICK
Both pics in this section are from Jeff Nicholls and they also show the same working. First up is EWS (DBS) class 66, 66162, dragging a stricken EWS (DBS) class 92, 92036 Bertel Brecht, on the china clay working ('silver bullets') of 12th December 2012. The location was Twelve Arches. The class 92 had failed further south.
Code - December W2
Pic number two shows the same working from the rear. The 66 came off at Arpley Yard and the 92 set off on its own again (recovered).
Code - December W3
ALTERNATIVE UK PICS
Pic numbers three and four are from Matthew Chambers, both taken in the evening at Wigan stations. Pic number three was taken at Wallgate on 8th December 2012 and features EWS (DBS) class 66, 66043.
Code - December A5
Pic number four was taken at North Western on the same date, 8th December 2012, and shows WCRC class 57, 57601.
Code - December A6
Pic number five has been sent in by David Wood and is another of his Rainhill shots. Pictured is DBS class 60, 60017, on a LBT-FFPS coal working on 5th December 2012.
Code - December A7
The final pic in this post was taken today, 13th December 2012, by Andy Parkinson. The location was Astley and the temperature, sub zero, but the Stanier 'Black Five' looks superb set against frost and blue sky. The loco is No.44871 with support coach working Castleton Hopwood Groundframe (ELR) - Kidderminster (SVR) to help out with the Santa Specials.
Code - December A8
Voting has started for the 'Pic of the
Month', November 2012 competition. The voting system is simple - just send me the
yellow November code numbers of the three pics you have chosen as 1st, 2nd and
3rd in each section, Winwick and Alternatives (UK and World combined). All
November dated pics posted between November 8th and December 6th are
eligible and have code numbers. My email address is at the top of the blog.
Everyone reading this post is eligible to vote, contributor or
not.
