The oilseed rape field, lineside at Winwick, and the contrasting sky provide a pictorial setting for Dave's shot of a Pendolino 390xxx. The shot is dated 16th April 2012.

This pic, shows the ex LMS Stanier 'Pacific' No.46233, Duchess of Sutherland, sporting her latest livery of 'Brunswick Green'. (According to the Internet she carried this livery from 1952/early 1953 - can anyone clarify?) The loco with support coach is pictured at Bank Quay where it was scheduled to stop but passed slowly through platform 4 without stopping. The pic is dated 25th April 2012.
ALTERNATIVE PICS (UK and WORLD)

This shot features the superb Furness Railway 0-4-0 tender locomotive, No.20, taken at the Ribble Steam Railway, Preston on 1st April 2012. I believe the livery was 'Indian Red' and it is very striking. No.20 is the oldest working standard gauge loco in the UK (built in 1863) and is owned by the Furness Railway Trust. I wouldn't fancy being in that cab in bad weather though.
