A Miscellany of Pics

Today's post, 27th May 2012, comprises another mixture of pics featuring modern traction and steam from ten contributors.



WINWICK




Pic number one is from Andy Parkinson. It was taken at Winwick on 23rd May 2012 and features class 31, D5513 (31190), working Arpley - Arpley via Hellifield.

The second pic is from Jeff Nicholls. Colas Rail class 47, 47739 Robin of Templecombe, is featured hauling a dmu via the use of two translator coaches,  Kilmarnock - Birkenhead. The location was Bank Quay. The pic is dated 16th May 2012.

Jeff has also sent in pic number three showing DBS class 60, 60091, on a LBT-FFPS working on the low level line at Bank Quay. The date was 16th May 2012.

The same loco is depicted next, in pic number four, from Dave Harris. The location was Red Bank, the working was Carlisle - Crewe and the date was 24th April 2012.










The fifth shot, sent in by yours truly, shows yesterday's (26th May 2012) 'Castle to Scotland' charter passing through Red Bank. At the head is Charles Collett's ex GWR 'Castle' class 4-6-0 loco, No.5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe. The headboard reads 'The Caledonian'. This loco was built in 1936 and originally named Barbury Castle. She was renamed  in 1937.

Pic number six is from Alan Rigby. Pictured is the GBRf class 66, 66709 Sorrento, sporting the MSC ship logo. Alan took the pic at Whittaker Junction; the working was a Hams Hall-Felixstowe intermodal and the date, 23rd May 2012.

The next pic, number seven, is from Colin Platt. Taken at the recent NYMR Gala, the pic shows BR 'Standard' class '4MT' 4-6-0, No.75029 The Green Knight, on 4th May 2012.

Geoff Monks has supplied pic number eight showing DBS class 66, 66097 at Cranberry, on 23rd May 2012. The working was Southampton- Halewood empty car transporters.

The East Lancs Railway at Bury was the setting for David Quayle's shot, number nine, taken on 20th May 2012. Featured are 0-6-0 saddle tank No.132 Sapper, and diesel shunter class 08, D3871.

Bob McClellan has sent in pic number ten, taken at Chelford on 17th May 2012. GBRf class 66, 66742, is shown on a Felixstowe - Barton Dock intermodal.

Pic eleven features a class 158 unit in East Midlands livery, 158 847, taken by John Smith. The location was Collins Green, the train was a diverted Liverpool - Norwich football special, and the date was 5th May 2012.
