Northern Belle

This post, 28th May 2011, features the freshly liveried and named DRS class 47, 47790 Northern Belle. The chocolate and cream livery is very eye-catching and matches the Pullman coaches associated with this luxury railtour.

The first pic is from John Smith. It was taken on 24th May 2011 at Winwick and shows the handsome 47790 on an empty Pullman stock move - DRS class 47, 47810 is on the rear. DRS is contracted to supply the Brush Type 4 traction for the train. It is rumoured that another loco is to receive the same livery.

Pic number two is also from John Smith. BR 'Standard' class 8, No.71000 Duke of Gloucester, is pictured passing through Winwick, southbound, on the Carlisle - Settle - Crewe 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'. The pic is dated 21st May 2011.

The third shot is from Ken Young. The 11-car 'Pendolino', 390054. has been covered in previous posts but Ken's pic is a real close up, showing the Alstom branding. The pic was taken at Bank Quay on 19th April 2011.

Jeff Nicholl's pic, number 4, was also taken on 19th April 2011. Freightliner 'PowerHaul' class 70, 70002, is shown approaching 12 arches near Bank Quay, heading a Carlisle - Mountsorrel engineers working.
