The Liverpool Docker

Today's post, 25th June 2017, includes a couple of shots of a special rail tour: the post fully comprises eighteen shots from just three contributors.

WINWICK & BEYOND

The first five pics are courtesy of Jeff Nicholls. This one shows large prairie tank, 2-6-2 No.5526, arriving at Buckfastleigh with a service from Totnes, on the South Devon Railway. The date was 8th June 2017.

HST 43172 Harry Patch was photographed at Exeter St Davids with a London-bound train on 8th June 2017. It is named after the last survivor of the WWI trenches.

HST 43187 The Welshman was pictured at the same location as above, on the same date. 43187 was on the rear of  'The Cornishman' from Paddington - Penzance. Apart from the leading car, 43178 Pride of Laira, the entire train was in GWR livery.

The fourth shot from Jeff, features two class '08' shunters at Wigan Springs Branch depot on 24th May 2017. The foreground loco is 08703, the red engine in the background is called Wigan 2.

Pic five from Jeff shows a WCRC class 47/class 37 combination, 47245  and 37518, Fort William / An Gearasdan, at Winwick on a Carnforth - Crewe working, consisting of two Statesman coaches. The pic is dated 31st May 2017.

The following three shots are from Geoff Monks. His first features Freightliner class 66, 66549 at Winwick on 3rd June 2017. The engineers train was working Crewe - Garstang,

Class 40, 40145 was pictured at Winwick on 9th June 2017 with a Carnforth - Bury loco + stock positioning move, which ran as a railtour via Shrewsbury (40145 worked the main railtour on the following day).

Beattie well tank No.30587 from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway (but owned by the NRM) is depicted at the MOSI in Manchester, on 15th June 2017. The loco alongside is a battery example from the former Bolton Power Station.

Bevan Price has sent in the following three pics. His first was taken at Prescot on 15th June 2017. Depicted is DRS class 68, 68026 with a BLS railtour (class 66, 66432 was on the rear).

Next from Bevan, is GBRf class 66, 66715 Valour, with a Drax - LBT biomass empties working, taken at Clegg Hall Road, Rochdale, on 20th June 2017.

Bevan's third pic shows DB class 66, 66017, with 'binliner' empties at Rainford Junc, on 22nd June 2017.

The final seven shots are all from Jeff Nicholls. First up are two shots of the 'Liverpool Docker' railtour  on 24th June 2017. The first was passing through Crosfields  with DB (EWS liveried) class 66, 66177 to the fore.
