Today's post, 31st October 2016, comprises 19 pics from four contributors and includes steam shots from our preserved railways.
WINWICK & BEYOND
First up are eight shots from David Quayle all from his recent visits to two of our preserved railways. Number one features the ex Taff Vale Railway class '02', 0-6-2T loco No.85, working with ex GWR 'Manor' class 4-6-0, No.7822 Foxcote Manor at Keighley on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. The pic is dated 8th October 2016.
Next from David, is another double heading pair of locos at Keighley on the same date. The two are ex L&NWR Webb Coal Tank 0-6-2T, No.1054, and ex LMS, Stanier 'Black Five,' 4-6-0, No.45212.
David's third pic shows the shed scene at Keighley on the same date. The main engines to the fore are No's 45212 and 7822, (described above), ex MR class '4F' 0-6-0 tender loco No.43924, WD Austerity 2-8-0, No.90733 and ex USA Transportation Corps class 'S160' 2-8-0, No.5820.
Ex BR Standard class '4MT' 4-6-0, No.75078 is up next, heading a goods working at Haworth on the same date, 8th October 2016. On the rear is No.45212.
Both 0-6-2 tank locos Nos 1054 and 85 (described above) are up next topping and tailing a small passenger service at Keighley on the same date. David has sent me some excellent notes on No.85 and No.1054 - if you are interested I can forward them to you.
David's sixth shot, taken on the same date at Keighley, features 'Manor' No.7822 and 'Black Five' No.45412, again (see above for details).
Pics seven and eight from David were taken on the ELR on 14th October 2016. Both shots feature ex LNER class 'A1/A3' 4-6-2, No.60103 Flying Scotsman. On the left, the loco is hauling a passenger service at Irwell Vale and on the right, she is approaching Bury Baron Street.
Jeff Nicholls is up next with seven pics. His first shows diesel shunter 08868 in Arriva Train Care livery at Crewe on 19th October 2016.
Pic two from Jeff features No.60103 again this time on the Chat Moss route at Golborne on 18th October 2016. The loco with support coach was en-route from the ELR to the NRM at York.
Freightliner class 66, 66585 The Drax Flyer is next, passing Arpley Yard with empties from FFPS, on 27th October 2016.
Freightliner class 66, 66951 is pictured passing Littons Mill Crossing on 26th October 2016 in Jeff's fourth shot. The working was loaded coal from Ferrybridge and the date, was 26th October 2016.
Another Freightliner class 66, 66562 is up next, about to pass Arpley with coal from Ferrybridge on 27th October 2016.
GBRf class 66, 66708 Jayne, was working light engine in Jeff's sixth pic taken on 26th October 2016, the working was Tuebrook - Crewe.
An 'Electrostar' unit, 387 303, is the subject of Jeff's final shot, taken at Crewe on 25th October 2016. Not bad quality for a mobile phone shot, Jeff.
Bevan Price has sent in the following two shots. His first shows GBRf class 92, 92032 with a Polmadie - Crewe working (part of a Caledonian Sleeper set) on 17th October 2016. The location was Winwick.
Pic 2 from Bevan was taken at Chester on 22nd October 2016. Pictured is 'Castle' class 4-6-0, No.5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, with a 'Charter' working from Tyseley.
The last two pics in this post are from David Wood. This one shows Colas Rail class 56, 56087, leading a RHTT in filthy weather at TY-Croes (Anglesey) with Colas rail class 56, 56113, on the tail.
