Mixed traction and Narrow Gauge

Today's post, 19th April 2015, is another huge one as the contributions continue to fly in at pace (all at once unfortunately, rather than more spaced out). Twenty-three pics from 5 contributors are used.

WINWICK & ELSWHERE

The first three shots are from Ieuan Wood. Number one features two DRS class 37s, 37607 and 37218, heading the 'Easter Chieftain', running Eastleigh - Inverness. The location was Winwick.

DBS class 60, 60011 is up next from Ieuan. Taken at Rainhill on 18th April 2015, it is probably "one of the last coal workings from Liverpool" according to Ieuan.

Up next are seven shots from Alan Rigby. His first two were taken at Earlestown on 13th April 2015. Class 31, 31601 is pictured (far right) working Nene Valley Railway - ELR with class 50s, 50008 Thunderer and 50015 Valiant behind and class 33, 33109 Captain Bill Smith RNR on the tail.

Next is a shot of 50008 Thunderer at Earlestown on 14th April. The loco is being dragged by class 31, 31601 from the ELR to Washwood Heath.

The Bure Valley narrow gauge railway is featured next with two more shots from Alan. First up is red loco Mark Timothy running round its train to go onto the turntable. The location was Aylsham and the date, 11th April 2015.

Next is the blue coloured loco Wroxham Broad leaving Aylsham for Wroxham on the same date, 11th April 2015.

The sixth shot from Alan was taken at Norwich Station on 8th April 2015. Pictured is Abellio Greater Anglia class 90, 90008 The East Anglian awaiting departure to London Liverpool Street.

Alan's seventh pic was taken at York on 1st April 2015. Featured is class 91, 91105 in the new Virgin livery, working Edinburgh - Kings Cross.

Jeff Nicholls is next with four shots. His first, of DBS class 67, 67026 Diamond Jubilee, was taken at Acton Bridge on 11th April 2015; the loco was heading to Crewe from Runcorn, The loco needed servicing and had just worked to Runcorn with the VSOE stock for the Grand National - DBS class 67, 67005 Queen's Messenger was on the tail.

Second shot from Jeff depicts GBRf class 66, 66761 passing Leigh Golf club, Culcheth on 5th April 2015. The working was Northwich - LBT empty biomass.
