Ten from Three

Today's post, 14th July 2014, comprises ten pics from just three contributors.

WINWICK & ELSEWHERE

First up are four shots from Ieuan Wood. Gresley 'A4' No.60009 Union of South Africa is the subject of the first pic taken at Long Preston on 12 July 2014. The railtour was the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'.

Ieuan's second shot was also taken at the same location and on the same date. Pictured is GBRf class 66, 66847 on the Carlisle-Chirk logs working.

Back to the Harry Potter theme again (see previous post) in this shot taken at Shipley on 12th July 2014. The railtour was the 'Wizard's Express' and the locomotive, No.5972 Olton Hall, masquerading as Hogwarts Castle.

Ieuan's final shot was taken at Winwick on 10th July 2014. Colas Rail class 70, 70802, is pictured dragging Colas Rail class 66, 666847 on the Carlisle - Chirk logs working. The class 70 was removed at Warrington Bank Quay and the working continued with the 66 at the head.

The same working, a loaded test run, is pictured next by Geoff Monks. Same place - Winwick, same date -10th July 2014.

Jeff Nicholls has sent in five shots. The first shows  DRS class 57s, 57010 Top and Tail 57002, at Bamfurlong on 9th July 2014. The working was a Carlisle - Derby delivery of new nuclear flask wagons.

Jeff's second shot features double heading DRS class 37s on the slow line at Bamfurlong on a railtour. The 'Trans Pennine Explorer' ran from Taunton to Carlisle. The locos were 37402 and 37603 and the date was 9th July 2014.

A third shot from Jeff features EWS (DBS) class 66, 66162 delivering the Bescot breakdown crane set to Springs Branch as part of the legendary 'Wigan Wagon' working. The pic is dated 9th July 2014.

Jeffs next shot was photographed on the western curve of Ince Moss Junction on a St Helens - Crewe Basford Hall empty engineers working. The date was 9th July 2014.

Jeff brings down the curtain on this post with his shot of DRS class 47, 47841, working Liverpool - Scarborough, at Warrington Central on 5th July 2014.
