Along Other Lines (15) - Red Bank and Lowton

Just to remind viewers, 'Along Other Lines' is an extension to our main blog title and involves pics taken on lines in proximity to the Winwick stretch of the WCML.

This post (19th April 2010) comprises three pics from three regular contributors, Alan Rigby, John Smith and Ken Young.

Alan's pic was taken at Red Bank on 5th June 2006 and shows Freightliner class 90, 90016 heading an intermodal container train.

John's pic was also taken at Red Bank when the 'Cumbrian Coast Tornado' stormed up the bank on 14th April 2010. The magnificent Peppercorn class 'A1', 4-6-2, 60163 Tornado was, unfortunately, heading a missmash of coaching
stock, comprising five different liveries.

Another steam charter was photographed at Lowton by Ken Young on 23rd March 2010. Stanier class 8, 48151 and BR 'Standard' class 7, 70048, The Territorial Army (in reality 70013, Oliver Cromwell) were double-heading the 'Help for Heroes' steam 'Special' - Lancaster - Manchester Victoria - York.
