Spreading The Word

Now the weather has improved I met three enthusiasts Ray, Alan and Dave at Winwick on Jan 26th and informed them of the blog. Dave (Harris) has forwarded two great pics taken in the snow in December 2009 and January 2010. Keep up the good work guys and spread the word.
One of Dave's pics shows a yellow, Network Rail 'New Measurement Train'. According to the N/R website it was "introduced in 2003 with a top speed of 125mph. The train
provides data on the condition of the track, overhead power lines and signals using advanced monitoring systems including scanners, lasers and cameras". Dave's other pic shows a class 66, 66513, heading what is probably a coal train.
Get in touch with me with your pics, info etc. - email address

Welcome

Welcome to rail enthusiasts who gather to photograph or 'spot' passing trains at this well known location - the Winwick stretch of the WCML. This blog is intended to be a channel of communication for Winwick devotees when at home or at work.
I have started the blog with two pics. The first shows the popular logs train headed by a class 57, 57007, taken in August 2009.
The second features a preserved Stanier 4-6-2, 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, heading a Worcester - Carlisle 'Special' taken in July 2009. Old Alder Lane Bridge is clearly visible in the background.
